5 Ways to Celebrate STAW 2024

5 Ways to Celebrate STAW 2024

By: The AAST Editor Sep 24, 2024

Commemorate your team’s hard work and accomplishments from the past year by joining AAST in celebrating Sleep Technologist Appreciation Week (STAW)! Taking place Oct. 20-26, check out a few ways you can get ready for a week of fun and recognition in the workplace.

  1. Tell Your Team’s Story
Whether you’re working in a specialized unit or just want to show off the amazing work you do, sharing your sleep center/lab’s story on social media, your website or a newsletter can highlight the important roles your team members place and accomplishments everyone made in the past year — which can help staff feel seen and appreciated.

  2. Highlight Achievements With Awards
A mini awards ceremony can be a lighthearted way to show even the smallest wins don’t go unnoticed. Consider printing out certificates or grabbing a gift card for those rockstar teammates who go above and beyond.

  3. Make a Learning Moment
If your team values learning opportunities as a group, a special educational initiative during STAW can be a great way to set aside time for professional development. Give thought to inviting an industry expert for a lunch and learn session or organizing a webinar.

  4. Celebrate With Sweets or Snacks
When in doubt, a surprise treat in the office is a surefire way to get staff excited and connected. A coffee hour with snacks from a favorite bakery or after work happy hour can be great options for celebrating your team’s accomplishments.

  5. Say Thanks
A sincere note of thanks can make a big impact on team morale. This STAW, consider writing a personal thank you for each member of your team and asking organizational leaders to sign or include their own messages as well. If your staff is close-knit, get others to join in on the fun by asking them what they appreciate about their teammates, and include these messages along with your own.
